Mostly because of the engine. My first and only time around them was with the one a buddy in my unit had back during high school. He was actually about to sell it to me for cheap and then the manual transmission grenaded.

It’s a work of beauty and art, that engine.

Just a shame they have cam issues and the rest of the car is prone to fall apart around it.

Came back from hospital after I was born in the back a 1990 Taurus SHO. My parents sold in 1996 when my mom was pregnant with my brother, and she had a hard time driving manual in her 3rd trimester. My dad still talks about that car.

Yamaha just builds beautiful engines.

Put one into the rear of a corvair, or even better, a montecarlo.

Scary, any engine minted in the forges of Yamaha is better Than any engine. And if it bathes in the magical waters of cosworth, it gets better. I drive a Matrix XRS. Abysmal build quality inside, great Yamaha engine. Often you have to forget about everything else.

This is one of those engines I’d like to have displayed in my shop area (should I ever have such a space...) It’s such an attractive design. I wouldn’t necessarily have to have the car that it’s commonly associated with, but just the engine, cleaned up and there to be admired. A few others in the collection would include (WARNING - engine porn ahead - proceed with caution):

You’re going to need a big shop.

Had a ‘97 SHO - miss it still. Yamaha does engines right.

That’s the plan - a big warehouse for all of my cars and tools - just a place to hang out since my beach house will have maybe three spots in the garage. But first I need to find a job, scrounge up a few bucks to make the payment on the Mazda, and plead with the landlord to not evict me. Reality is a pesky thing that just keeps getting in the way of my fantasy life.

If you’re near Pennsylvania, I got a ‘93 5-speed that I’ve lost patience for. $800 takes it. Idles fine, but no power (can’t get up a hill in first). If you’re actually interested, it would need to be towed.

Bought a ‘92 for $300 and raced it in full contact dirt racing. Pretty fast car, until I rolled it.
